Denise

DeniseDenise was introduced to her first Vinyasa Flow Yoga class in Aspen Colorado, USA. Injury from an active lifestyle led her to Yoga, however the challenge in mind and body leading to more focus and clarity, kept her coming back. After practicing regularly at the studio O2 Aspen, Yoga became an integral part of life, and she felt inspired to share the experience with others. She received her teaching qualification at Corepower Yoga in Denver, Colorado and teaches a challenging yet compassionate class which is peppered with words of wisdom. Her objective as a teacher is one of service and she holds true to the knowledge passed down to her "teach to honour the student, never oneself". She continues to learn and evolve through ongoing study and an everlasting love of Yoga.

Perry

Perry Perry has been practicing yoga for over 20 years. She is an Ayurvedic Practitioner and hence her yoga teachings have a therapeutic focus where the asana practise is intertwined with the fundamentals of Ayurveda. Her style is a mixture of Iyengar and Hatha with emphasis on right alignment, working with the breath and strengthening the body and mind. Health, especially preventative therapies have always been her passion and yoga is recognised as one of the important disciplines that support good health and well being. For more information on Perry or Ayurveda visit www.ayurvedahealth.co.nz

Kate

Kate Kate draws on 25 years of Yogic, Buddhist and contemporary traditions of inner work. Vispassana and Mindfulness have been major influences and are at the core of her teaching. She has always had a strong interest in the inner journey and has explored a variety of traditions and teachers. Whilst her approach is eclectic, it is grounded in established traditions. Kate holds a yoga teaching diploma (IYTA) with 13 years teaching experience in Australia and is also a qualified herbalist.

Daphne

Daphne A Canadian from Vancouver, Daphne completed her 200 hour training at Trinity Yoga and the nine day David Swensen Ashtanga teacher training in 2006. She is also trained in pre-natal yoga. She got into yoga in 2001 due to a youth of very hardcore sports. In a nutshell her back and body were stuffed. Daphne hasn't looked back since; “Yoga has so profoundly touched me and changed my life that I wanted to share it and teach it. If I can help one person the way Yoga has helped me, then this teaching journey is a huge fullfilment”. Her greatest teacher is her little boy Corbus who was born March 2008. “It’s incredible to see myself reflected in him!” She taught at a large Yoga studio and a sports club in Spain for a year before coming to New Zealand. She currently teaches Vinyasa Flow at the Hibiscus Coast Leisure Centre in Stanmore Bay as well as Yin Yoga at the Yoga Sanctuary.

Ruth

RuthRuth Dudding is an actor, director, video maker and yoga teacher. She has been teaching and practicing Yoga for over 20 years alongside raising two children (Reamonn 15, Kalya 12) with her partner Graham, and running her video production business Struth Productions.

Ruth’s original Yoga training was based on Iyengar Yoga teachings, however very early on she incorporated Astanga Yoga into her regular practice. She enjoys the precision demanded form Iyengar Yoga and the heat, fluidity and familiar sequencing of postures that are part of the Astanga practice. Ruth has attended workshops with many tutors over the years, but particularly likes to acknowledge the influences of tutors such as Peter Nielson (AYA), Dik Bree (AYC), Donna Farhi, Nicki Knoff (KYS) and Simon Borg-Olivier (SY). She feels very privileged to have returned to Auckland to find world class instructors teaching just next door at The Yoga Sanctuary.

Ruth aims to combine the styles of Yoga that have most resonated for her and her students over the years. Her classes tend to focus on the physical aspects of Yoga through yoga postures, however she has no doubt that the philosophical/holistic nature of Yoga will make itself known to the student as a regular Yoga practice becomes a life choice. Her classes attend to the correct alignment of the body and are carried out with attention to the breath (pranyama). Ruth has experience with beginners, pregnant women and clients with chronic or acute injuries. She welcomes questions and feedback and loves to learn from others.

Ruth is thrilled to teach at The Yoga Sanctuary and is looking forward to meeting more North Shore students of Yoga.
